Guest 75RivGS
couldn't withstand to buy another Buick for a roadtrip (or more); a 72 Electra Limited, full documented (67,000 mls.) and loaded with options..no rust and even the ACC () blows cold. Unfortunately our holiday will be in August so we will miss the Nats. Roadtrip will start in IA and finish will be in CA. Haven't decided where to go inbetween (yet)

Guest 75RivGS
Thanks Chris. Not the Buick I was looking for over the past 2 years (67 WildcatElectra 2dr or 71/72 Riviera), but couldn't resist this one. Thanks also for your emailed leads to Buicks last 2 years; much appreciated !!

Guest my3buicks
A friend of mine and I were watching this one, both thought someone got a great buy on it - Glad it was you!! A good detail will make all the difference in the world.

Dynaflash8
It's gonna eat you alive in gas on that trip. Gas went up 16 cents a gallon here in 30 minutes time yesterday. But, these really were great cars.
Redrob
What a great car, you'll love it!Depending on the timing of your trip, our Gopher State chapter in Minnesota would love it if you could visit us at an August event, like our drive in night. Guest 75RivGS
Last week we collected the Electra; at the start we first changed the radiator and tires. Also put new points, rotor and cap in. The car drives like a dream; smooth. No leaking fluids at all (had to short cut the hoses to heater core; windshield became moist now and then). From the very first day, and although hundreds of miles from Sturgis it was obvious we would encounter lots of 2 wheeled traffic. Will upload photos with the highlights. Have met lots of very nice people in the last week. First visit was to Pella, IA. Town with lots of Dutch influences. Badlands: Even took the Buick into (madhouse) Sturgis: Devil's tower: Bikes everywhere (heard this 75th episode of Sturgis attracked over 2,000,000 people; in a 150 miles radius there were bikes, bikes and bikes):
Guest 75RivGS
Further into WY: we did Highway (Sweet)16, Beartooth pass and Chief Joseph highway (Beautiful with a capital B!!): and even caught a Grizzly (on camera): Avoiding Interstates you'll find most beautiful spots; (coal-) mining area: Yesterday Yellowstone: amazing. While driving through the park we noticed quite some classic cars and hot rods; found out that in the town where we wanted to leave the park the was a classic car meet the next day; about 400 cars and only a disappointing 3 Buicks: Now in Eureka, MT after Mt Glacier NP; unfortunately too much smoke (due to wild fires) and the combination road work and closed turn outs didn't help to really enjoy it. JohnD1956
Awesome road report!!! Those are some Buickful pictures!!! Glad you got to see Yellowstone Park in the sunshine! It poured when we were driving through. Yellowstone lake is worth the trip by itself. Wishing you the best of luck on your journey, and looking forward to more pictures... Guest 75RivGS
it is a beautiful trip so far; except for a cooling hose (to the heater core) ripped today the Buick is doing fine. Found a few Buick 'gems' (there were a couple of very interesting non-Buicks there as well: https://www.facebook.com/media/set/?set=a.10207312920410780.1073741855.1518446062&type=1&l=677124bdd8 ) Edited August 13, 2015 by 75RivGS (see edit history)
Guest 75RivGS
changing the waterpump was the only other repair I had to make. Finally drove almost 6,000mls (engine used less than a quart oil).We had a great trip. Wild fires in the NW caused smoke so we didn't see much of the mountains.A few more photos (to keep it Buick related I only choose the one with the Electra). A 71 Electra FS; (never seen a 71 with louvres in the hood, but it turned out early production 71's had them): At Ryan dam, Great Falls, MT: On our way to a ghost town the road was blocked due to ongoing SAR ops... missing hiker near Elkhorn, MT (ghost town) found alive thanks to K9 . JohnD1956
6K miles!!! Now THAT's a road trip!!!! Loved Crescent City and am so jealous you got to see the Golden Gate bridge, which was socked in with heavy fog when we went through! I also laughed at the pic next to the 71 cause that has Road wheels with white walls, and you have hubcaps with black walls, and that is the exact opposite of what I would have done. Guest 75RivGS
I also laughed at the pic next to the 71 cause that has Road wheels with white walls, and you have hubcaps with black walls, and that is the exact opposite of what I would have done. It was clear I had to change all 4 (white wall) tires but wasn't able to find them anywhere in stock, so ended up with these. The first store we went to even refused to install the tires, I told them I needed 235(225)/75/15 tires but they wanted to check first on their computer; it came out my car needed R78/15 which they didn't have in stock (duh). Although I asked them to run a conversion program orso they refused. They would sell me tires but not install them (company policies...)

The song in the 2nd movie probably would have fit better in about the same video I made 2 years ago on the Blue Ridge highway. Next year we will start in CA and probably will see some more of northern Utah. Guest 75RivGS
Those video's are...fast...John, the videos are speed-ed up 16x. Too boring to look at with original speed.
