Here's your '54 Super Jake

Jake, if I was still buyin ftty-fo's I would be making an offer instead of telling you about this. Looks solid enough, EZEye glass looks good, all the ORIGINAL bumpers and trim is there (even the hood spear isn't broke) and I really like the Casino Beige. Could be a fun car with just a little mechanicin and detailing. Only thing I can fault this car with is the portholes are bassackwards. Which says it may have had a repaint some time in it's life. (or it may been originally assembled on a Monday)

The seller has provided excellent detailed photos of critical parts of the body and chassis and has good feedback. Make him an offer, all he can say is no.

Tell you the truth Jake, after looking at that solid bottom of trunk lid, back floor board and dash and headliner condition, I wouldn't even take a chance of waiting to see if he accepted my offer. I'd hit the Buy It Now button and be hooking up my trailer. As you well know Jake, these 2 door big bodies are getting scarce, in any condition, much less an unmolested car with as much potential as this.

and the spark plug covers and starter cover are in the front seat and trunk, this car was probably a one or two owner. Mileage is probably 167K. Engine is wrong color but all that may be saying is the engine was rebuilt. Looks to be an original GM key in the ignition.

Anybody want to bet a double shot of Johnny Walker Black this car doesn't last another 48 hours on ebay. And another double shot that it doesn't go overseas when it does sell. And another that Jake lets this one slip by because it is "too far away"

Hell maybe I'll just go have me a fifth and buy the car myself.

Price lowered to $4995! If I had room and an understanding wife (especially the latter) I would be all over this.

I agree...this is a really tempting car.

I would love to see this baby after about a week in your shop Adam!!!

Breathe Mr. Earl, Breathe

I've already experienced one weak at the knee's experience this last week (more on that later), I don't know if I can take another.

Always dive the cost by 20. Then you get the entry fee for 20 years of ownership. If you don't like it sell it and make a few bucks.

My Grandfather used to get hesitant customers on the lot and he'd come back in the shop saying the guy came looking for a car with a pocket full of fish hooks. They laughed at me almost 40 years ago when I paid about 2 grand for my Riviera.

That '54 is nice car. If it was mine and I was offered $3,00 for it I would just tell them to buy the other one.

:o

Looks like I'll be driving down the 1954 Buick highway soon!

You sly dog, you.... I take it this "car thing" has been discussed with your lovely bride-to-be. I know I had that talk with Jodie before the "I do's". ( I know it has with you and Atena, just jerking you two's chain a little...:D:D)

Nice acquisition!

Proud of you son!

Well alright Adam, you snagged you a nice one it looks like. Congrats!!!!! Can't wait to see what you do with it. Curious, is this the oldest Buick you have owned? Well, I hope it is even BETTER than "it is cracked up to be".

Will be looking for you out on the '54 Buick Highway.

Adam, just for comparison, this seller is looking for $9,500 for this "similar" condition Super

I really think you got a pretty good deal!!! plus you got power steering which comes in handy on a big body.

Now before you start doing a lot of engine detailing, think about putting a 4 bbl on it. and I can help with that.

I did the carb swap on my '54 Super, and noticed the difference. A Carter 2brl to a Carter 4brl. Now it also got some engine work and a tune-up, so this is not a scientific comparison. Off the line, I tend to go slow and easy just to be nice to the Dynaflow, so I won't guess how it is off the line. But going up a grade or accelerating onto the freeway, or making a pass, I feel a stronger pull. I just love the feel of the secondaries opening up!

I would agree. The swap is not really even on my radar at this point.

Only reason I brought it up was like I said, something to consider before you start engine detailing.

Apparently someone in engineering determined a 4 bbl would be a good thing in the Super's cause in 55 they came with them. In fact if you really wanted some help catching up to traffic on interstate on-ramps, I'd suggest going with a '55 Carter with larger throats, as they were part of the equation of the 30+ hp gain from 54 to 55. And just sayin all this, as I realize you got plenty else to be thinking about.
