Jim Yergin
I pulled the engine out of my recently acquired 1956 Thunderbird and found this attached to the block. The two hoses are plugged. Can someone tell me what it is?Thanks. Jim Yergin
ThunderVette
Hard to tell from the photo. Do you have another photo from a different angle?

ThunderVette
It sure looks like the original spark plug wire retainer. Those must be plug wires that have been cut off.Tim

Bleach
Yes it is a grommet that once routed the plug wires neatly. You can get an idea of how it looks below.
1957Birdman
Hi Jim,The T-Bird parts suppliers have kits that include all the original style wire retainers. You need to use them or you will be trying to find a way to run the wires so they don't hit the exhaust manifold. Of course you will want to get new wires at the same time.Regards,Lew
Jim Yergin
Thanks Lew. I can see that will be important. I have already ordered the parts. The prior owner appears to have resorted to zip ties to keep them away from the exhaust manifold.Jim Yergin
