Late 1920s roadster

Some cars had flaps of leather that went over the door top, so that the driver or passenger wouldn't rub the paint off by resting their arm on it. I thought that might be the case here, but if so that means there's another metal piece above it, as there's yellow above the brown. That is, unless someone colorized the photo and took liberties with the color, in which case it might just be an artist's misconception.

I've looked at a lot of makes and haven't find that factory detail yet...
