Touring top irons...

Recommended Posts

I am in the process of restoring a touring top for a Dodge Brothers car. I believe the top sockets should be rebuilt. Does anyone know of any vendors that provide this service? Thanks in advance for your comments.

Thanks,

Dale

I do and John was perfect on my 1916 DB . He takes a while but worth the wait

Hi Bob,

Do you remember if John uses 2 layers of metal when he rebuilds the sockets? When completed do they look like the originals?

Thanks Dale

Here is a picture of John's sockets I don't know what you mean by two layers

Hi Bob,

The original tubes consisted of two gauges of steel rolled together and joined with a seam. They appear to interlock with each other. When you observe the top tubes from the view where the wooden bows enter the tubes you should see the dual layers.

Your sockets look very nice. Are the tubes totally new?

Thanks Dale
