bullrun
My 47 Chevrolet has-what I was told is- a latter model 235 motor with inserts and full pressure oil. I'm trying to narrow down the year range but I am not having any luck with charts on the internet. The heel plate behind the distributor is clearly stamped 0136058T54XB. I can make out one casting above the starter that reads J63. Motor has a latter model Rochester carb with heat riser automatic choke-but appears to have 46-48 style distributor and vac advance set up. Trying to figure out if i might have a truck motor or possibly one out of a Powerglide car that may have hydraulic lifters. Any help appreciated. JACK M
Its been a couple of years but I was able to identify one of these with an internet search. I am probably wrong but it may be a 1954, as I remember the year was in the stamped number. I think that would make it a 235.Be aware I am not a GM guy.
