Guest turquoisetom
I have a 1940 Buick Century Convertable Coupe with a set of 1941 Dual Stomberg carburators. I live at an elevation of around a mile high. I need to know how to tune the carb's. The car runs really bad right now. I wonder if I need to change the main jets with smaller ones for this altitude. I use alot of gas. Also I thought the linkage was supposed to be progressive, but when you push the accelerator both carb's actuate at the same. Has someone installed the linkage wrong? jenz38
If needing to much gas and bad engine run ,sounds to me that you shall check the floats , maybe thei're divers and not swimmers (in german we named the float swimmer). The progressive linkage is ok but the problem then can be , the rear carb hasnt a acceleratorpump, this can result in a hole while accelerating.for that you need a second front carb in rear.Assuming your Ignition system is in good condition.Good luck andkeep us postin'
