Why is this gauge on a Stutz dash?

This is a picture of an M8 Stutz dash, taken in early 1930. What is the air gauge for?

I know that in 1929 Cadillac, Auburn and Packard carried on-board compressors to top up the tires. Would this part of a like system?

Anyone?

Thanks!

Supercharger boost.

That would be nice!

A picture of the front of the car shows that it didn't have one.

Stop Press!!

You know, after a bit more research, I think you are right. The car did have a supercharger at one time.

Well done!!

Thanks,

Mark
