WTB WONT TO BUY A CADILLAC 1926 WINDSHIELD GLASS WITH BUBBLES

Recommended Posts

I AM RESTORING A CADILLAC 1926 TOURING

UNFORTUNATELY I BROKE THE GLASS.

THE GLASS OF THIS TIME WAS FLAT PLATE GLASS 5/16 THICK WITH SMALL BUBBLES.

AS THE CAR WILL BE AUTHENTIC ALL OVER

I WOULD LIKE TO FIND THE SAME GLASS.

DO NOT MATTER IF IT IS LARGER,

I WILL HAVE IT CUT.

MEASUREMENT IS 42 1/4, 15 5/8 AT ENDS, 12 1/2 IN CENTER, 5/16 THICK.

Glass Installation

by Jim Schild

All cars before 1927 and most of them until 1932 were originally equipped with non-safety glass because that was all that was available. In 1927, Stutz introduced a form of safety, or non-shatterable glass into its cars. Cadillac in 1929 was the first to make safety glass standard equipment throughout the entire line. Regardless of whether your car came with safety glass when it was new, it is important today to install it in all windows.

THIS CADILLAC 1926 IS A 6 YEARS PROJECT.

EVERY PARTS ARE NEW OR EXACTLY REDONE.

THIS CAR WAS RUNNING AND COMPLETE BEFORE WE

BEGAN THE RESTORATION.

A VERY EXPENSIVE RESTORATION AND ALL AUTHENCITY

RESPECTED.

THE BUBBLES IN THE GLASS SHOWS IF THE AUTHENTICITY

IS RESPECTED.

THIS CAR WILL NEVER GO BACK ON THE ROAD.

ALL CARS BEFORE 1927 AND MOST CARS BEFORE 1929

HAVE PLATE GLASS AND MANY OF THEM HAVE NOT BEEN CHANGE.

THANKS

JC

THIS CAR WILL NEVER GO BACK ON THE ROAD.

"Never Say Never" .........

You will not own the car forever.

Don't take a chance of having plate glass shatter in someone's face. It could be your own.

Put in safety glass.

My point was not that the car originally had safety glass but that Cadillac would not have installed glass with imperfections. If your car some 80 years later had Goodyear tires rather than Fisk tires would you then argue that the car had Goodyear tires when new? Good luck finding the Fisk tires by the way.
