Guest frcc16
I'm guessing that someone out there had to replace those side tabs on the frame that support the outer edges of the car body? Did you retrieve them from a junk yard or make new ones from scratch? I'll try to attach a picture to show them.
Bhigdog
A few different ways to skin this cat. Bend up new ones, fabricate as weldments, re-use junk yard finds, weld directly to frame, weld to remains of old one, etc etc. If done in a workman like manner it's all good...................Bob
joe_padavano
If you can bend and weld steel, it's likely easier to fabricate new from flat stock than to try to salvage old ones, cut them off, clean them up, have them fit properly, etc, etc. It's just mild steel, nothing magic. Rusty_OToole
You mean the body mounts? The ones on the frame are usually good, they are thick steel, it is the body that rusts first.I would cut off the old one and make a duplicate. Then bolt it on using the old rivet holes. Support the body with a couple of jacks or, lift the body free of the frame. You will need to lift the body to get the rubber mounts in anyway. Don't lose the shims. Guest frcc16
Thanks! All kinds of possiblilities! Nice! I'm beginning to believe that anything can be rebuilt on these old cars with a little skill, ingenuity, and patience!!
