Guest Kaber
Attention Netflix users: The TV show Emergency! is available to watch. I love watching all these old shows (Rockford too) shot in LA, its like a porn for car guys! My wife and I were watching season 4 episode 11 (I think) and a guy driving a 65 Ford has a heart attack and crashes violently. But not before careening off the Drivers side front fender of a 65 Riviera! I almost had a heart attack! you could actually see the clamshell pucker open due to the impact. Might be even harder to watch if i actually owned a 65! Check it out. The Riv is only on screen for a split second, it was red.Kaber
msdminc
Kaber, my wife and I watch TCM for the same reason. You get to see cars from all ages, all the way from the beginning or cars being manufactured through the early 70's. We saw what I believe was a white '63 about half way through "The Out of Towners" movie. It was in two shots, and as in your spotting, it was parked on the side of the road for just a few split seconds. The move was a 1970 release of a Neil Simon written movie with Jack Lemon as the male lead.Rock Ongord Edited January 29, 2015 by msdminc (see edit history)

You get to see cars from all ages, all the way from the beginning or cars being manufactured through the early 70's. We saw what I believe was a silver '65 about half way through "The Out of Towners" movie. It was in two shots, and as in your spotting, it was parked on the side of the road for just a few split seconds. The move was a 1970 release of a Neil Simon written movie with Jack Lemon as the male lead.Rock OngordI was amazed at the first season of the "Rockford Files",there was a Riv of some form in every episode (If you looked close enough!). There was even a full custom lowrider 71-2 boattail with T-Tops in one episode. The shows are entertaining but the cars steal the show. Also being a Firebird Owner its sometimes hard to watch. There were a TON of Rivs and Firebirds on the California streets back then. One funny side note, there is a silver 71-2 Vega in almost EVERY driving scene. I inquired about it on the Rockford Files facebook page and was told it belonged to a production assistant and got almost as much screen time as the The Gold Firebird! LOL!Tim

Man it takes a long time to watch every episode in sequence to find just the car you're looking for. Not!http://www.imcdb.org/vehicle_417793-Buick-Riviera-1971.htmlIt's highly likely that you can find any car that was in any movie/tv show on the "internet movie car data base." www.imcdb.org You can search by movie / tv show or you can search by car. The number of stars in the caption depicts if it was just seen in passing or if it played a major roll. You can spend (waste) a lot of time on this site. It states that there are 485 Rivieras on the site.Ed Edited January 29, 2015 by RivNut (see edit history)
steelman
This only works if the ones making the database are real car guys. My wife gets mad at me when we are watching a movie et in 1957 and I point out a 60 Impala in the background. My favorite is the first Back to the Future. In the mayoral parade, I see a black 55 Chevy Nomad. No problem you say, they went back to 1955. But did you realize black was not an optional color for the Nomad in 55? I love doing this. My wife hates it. She refuses to let me watch Barrett-Jackson because I agrue with the TV. Loudly.
Dales90
Just a quick note here about the movie titled. The Riviera, and how amazed I was to learn such a movie existed. The 'star' of the flick is a bronze 65 Riv, and the way the main characters revolve around it. It is Czeck I believea and has either dubbed English or subtitles, I dont' remember now. Bunt one exists with so much Riviera in it, it is wonderful.Dale
rivgs
Dale, The movie is " Buick Riviera" and has a Sahara Mist 65. I have been looking for a copy of the movie. If anyone know where to find it, please let me know. The trailer for the movie is on youtube and I have a poster from the movie hanging on the pole barn wall.
