How many Buicks have you owned ?

Paul from PA

Recommended Posts

Woke up this morning with about three inches of fresh snow, no Buicks rides for awhile. I did have time to reflect and figure out how many Buicks I have owned so far. I keep track of all my car purchases for some reason or no reason. I have owned 38 different Buicks thus far, I currently have 4. Of those 38 I have driven on the road, fully licensed and insured, 16 different ones. I have bought with the intention of reselling 15 and parted out 7. My very first car for road use was a 1963 Riviera. The oldest one I ever owned was a 1932 and the newest is a 1993 Roadmaster which I still drive on occasion.

Probably only five:

1934 Buick 34-57 is an AACA Grand National Senior, and previously served as our Tour-Driver for 12 years -- we still are considering putting this one up for sale to a really good home.

1937 Roadmaster 80C Phaeton (Convertible Sedan) - was New York City Mayor Fiorello LaGuardia's personal Parade Car

1914 B-37 Touring - recently passed along to a trusted friend who will continue to tour with this gem

1971 LeSabre red convertible - probably should have fixed the leaky transmission and just kept it, rather than buying the money pit/1966 Mustang GT convertible

1982 Century V-6 - Certainly the LEAST RELIABLE car we ever owned - purchased new, the relays for the electric cooling system fans never worked properly, resulting in haphazard overheating - usually when in line for the bank window, and you had nowhere to pull out, or in heavy traffic and no breakdown lane. - finally gave it away

...and then one who got away -- a neighbor sold his 1996 Roadmaster - always garaged 37,000 mile original, but misplaced my phone number..... and now it is a Taxicab (#@$%&*@)

That takes some head scratching.

My first Buick was a family hand me down '55 Special 2 dr.

Some 30 years later a 1983 Electra wagon

my first Reatta was a 1990 coupe.

Then a '98 & '99 Regal GS

2005 Rendezuous Ultra

2011 Enclave

In between the first Reatta and now have been (2) 1989 coupes (5) 1990 coupes (1) 1990 SS60 convertible (3) 1991 coupes (1) 1991 convertible

1939 Century sport coupe 66S

I believe that is a total of 19 Buicks

Of those, we both owned one of them. 1955 special two door hardtop from California. I still have the old plate. The last I heard the car was somewhere in the Dayton PA area.

That was such a solid car, it so deserved the works.

To date 58. All Reattas.

Of the 58, 10 were/are running driving cars that I own or have sold.

88s: 6 (all coupes)

89s: 19 (all coupes)

90s: 26 (22 coupes, 4 convertibles)

91s: 7 (5 coupes 2 convertibles)

Currently laying around that I drive are a '91 white convertible, '91 green coupe, '90 grey coupe, '90 red convertible, and an '88 early red coupe.

Maybe I need to diversify.

MANY, MANY, MANY BUICKS, 1938 to 2014 ( missing most of the later years ) but including 3 53 Skylarks, 7 65 Rivieras (4 Gran Sports) , many 65 to 72 gs's ,

The last is a 2014 Regal T , same engine as the GS but lighter car and front wheel drive only , 259 hp out of a 4 cyl turbo , real tire burner !!

28 but that includes 3 that the titles were in dad's name; 19 of which were/are Rivieras. All but three were drivers (parts cars.)

Maybe we all need psychiatric help.

Snowy days are indeed good for thinking about Buick's remembered...thanks for starting this thread, Paul. Lots of fun, friends and adventures in every one of these lists, I'm sure. The count here is 42, starting with a 63,000-mile one-owner 1950 Super Convertible, bought for $25 in 1967. The '40 Roadmaster Convertible is the only one we still have. Most were in good "used car" condition, only a few restored, and a few were parts cars. Some we had for months, others for years. A few I've kept track of, most not...I hope that they are all still out there, somewhere. Attached is a scan of my 1965 Buick Collectors Club of America membership card (predecessor of the BCA, which was founded in 1966). I was 16 when I joined the BCCA.

9 thus far. In order -

50 Super coupe

54 Super coupe

54 Century coupe (bought for $25 just to get the 4 barrel carb & manifold for the Super - drove for six months and sold for $25 so what I wanted was free!)

66 Skylark coupe

68 Sportwagon

55 Century coupe

68 LeSabre

93 Park Av

2000 Park Av

And a couple of Opel Rallyes (69 & 70) that were fun at the time (both had black vinyl tops as well but otherwise looked like the picture) images?q=tbn:ANd9GcTKTQl9PgM4L8DcBdwl15JaI35JIFm-GnpltKjb2AbXpgjXieUy

Yearning for any one of the following - 63-65 Riviera, 62 Wildcat, 60 convertible, 65 GS Skylark.
