Need torque specs for front spring u-bolts

I am reassembling the front end on the 38 Zephyr. I need to how how much to torque the U-bolts that hold the spring to the cross member. I read somewhere that this is a must do as German torque (good und tight) will not work. Thanks

I don't have specs particular to Lincolns, but you can find a standard range for the bolt size, say 1/2"? Use a breaker bar with a pipe on the handle.

How long of a breaker bar and how long of a pipe? Torque charts don't list that anyway.:confused:

Good question, after noticing some minor movement of the spring, I torqued mine to 60 lbs but am still experiencing some shifting. Does anybody know the torque specs on those exact bolts for other Ford products?

the 9/16-18 nuts should be torqued to 80 ft.lbs and the 5/8" - 18 should be torqued to 110 ft lbs. These figures are from the standard torque values chart that came with my torque wrench.

The cotter keys will keep the nuts from loosening and the square head center bolt should keep the spring from shifting. The center bolt should be seated in the recess in the cross member.
