Correct '40 Cabriolet Bumper?

post-80968-143142941985_thumb.jpgI have trouble managing the photos and apologize for this one but notice the hole in the center bottom half of the bumper. To my knowledge this is the original bumper but I want to be sure before I spend the money to have it re-chromed. As you all know, within a couple of cars this was the last of the older style license plate holder and perhaps they used the newer bumper with the older style holder. I can't wait to hear from you experts.

Ron, the hole to mount my 40 Cobra light is in the exact middle of the bumper not below the center line. Looks like your previous owner mounted something else there. The face for the rear bumper mounted light is a slight point to hug the inside of the bumper perfectly. Any pictures of the rear bumper from the previous owner?

Hi John and Ron, seems like a steel plug could be welded into the hole easily enough. If the plater doesn't have time for that have them strip it and get it done for them...
