Guest Rohrbach84
What did you put into the car? I'm looking for info on installing a sbc 350/TH350 combo into a 56 Special or could you point me in the right direction? Thanks!
JohnD1956
As long as you are planning to replace the torque tube rear axle, I might suggest that the right direction is a Buick 350, or 455, or a more period visual correct 401.

RivNut
As long as you are planning to replace the torque tube rear axle, I might suggest that the right direction is a Buick 350, or 455, or a more period visual correct 401. I agree, a later 401 or 425 backed by an ST400 (Buick nomenclature for a TH400) would be the way to go - 65 and 66 ST400's have the switch pitch feature. No matter which engine / transmission combo you choose, you're going to have to convert the torque drive to an open drive. This will probably entail making a subframe of some kind to which you can attach an open rear. Ed
