Guest dons48
1955 Buick Special (Resto-mod) 2 dr hardtop, NO RUST. This car has been (somewhat) changed from its original configuration with the following components.1976 Buick La Sabre 455ci engineTH400 Transmission1975 Ford F100 9" rear end with 4 link traction and panhard (sway) barThis car is not a hacked or chopped job. It is a good strong running car. Completed a 2000 mi trip this past summer (southwest desert ID,UT,NM) without incident. No.......there is no A/C, power steering or power brakes. That's the way this car was built from the factory, and that's the way it remains. Although not original, the upholstery, headliner and carpet are in good shape. Paint is pretty good as well (I had nothing to do with the painting or the upholstery). With the exception of the speedometer, all other gauges work....even the clock. The stock radio does light when turned on but the Vibrator tube is weak and needs to be replaced (there is a working stereo mounted on the bottom of dashboard). All lights, turn signals function as should including dome, map, glove box and trunk. Stock Auxiliary heater reconnected and works great. New items that have been added or replaced this past summer:New mechanical Fuel PumpNew 160 degree thermostatNew battery, alternator (single post) and fan beltNew rear Drums, brake shoes, and wheel cylinders (front were previously done)New emergency brake cables and mechanismNew Traction bar bushingsNew standard rear coil springs and shocksNew idler arm with bracketNote: Front end was previously rebuilt by former owner, but for some reason the idler arm was not part of build!?!?Front end realigned, tires balanced and rotatedNew Transmission oil pan with drain plugFront end serviced (greased)Front wheel bearings cleaned and repacked with fresh grease. The tires (All American Classics) have a lot of meat left and will last quite awhile before needing replacement.Chrome and pot metal (tail lights) has usual pitting for a vehicle of this age but all and all in pretty decent shape. This is by no means a top standout show car but, it is a runner and will cruise the highway right along with the rest of the traffic, and certainly pass anyone with ease. Some pictures show car with Hub caps. These (Hub caps) have since been removed. Images with chrome wheels and baby moons are current. This Buick is being offered at $17,500. Will consider decent offers.Call Don at 512-905-6892. If no answer......please leave your name and number, and I will try and return your call as soon as I can. Please NO CALLS after 7:00pm.Thanks for looking, and have a great 2015 Edited January 10, 2015 by dons48 (see edit history)
