Kenneth Stewart
The coil on my 39 Commander is the original which sticks in the firewall. Never had a car that had the coil there. Have not look under the dash to see if it open there. Teach me about it. I would like to drive the 39 to St. Louis if I can get the car ready. There lots to do to get the car ready to drive that far. Spinneyhill
The 1930 Dodge Eight had a similar horizontal coil, as did many Chrysler products. The ignition wire is in an armoured cable to "prevent" hot-wiring the car. Look under the dash then we won't need to tell you about it. Look in your manual and the parts book too. Illustration No. 35 of the shop manual shows it clearly. Plate 06-1 in the master parts book is also useful.
