keiser31
A one of none.Yep....pretty funny since the last year for the DeSoto convertible was 1959.
StillOutThere
This was an extremely well done clone using an excellent So Calif '60 Windsor convert and '60 Adventurer coupe. Brad Beardsley that built it died shortly after completion. It was auctioned a B-J Scottsdale once and "restored" again after that. Boyd Coddington had it in his collector car showroom for a couple years. I would own this car at this price. I've seen it in person and it is GORGEOUS. John_S_in_Penna
Did the auction reveal that it was a fantasy piece, and that no 1960 DeSotos were ever made?
keiser31
Did the auction reveal that it was a fantasy piece, and that no 1960 DeSotos were ever made? They made 1960 DeSotos....just not convertibles.
countrytravler
And so what if they didn't make them. Tell me your head wouldn't look like apple Jax while cruising down the road in that car with the top down? That car is bad to the bone! !!
John_S_in_Penna
Sorry, I mistyped. I knew there were closed-car 1960 DeSotos;it's the 1960 DeSoto CONVERTIBLES that are fantasies! So, did the auction house reveal that it was a made-up car?I certainly hope so, as this is a significant question of ethics in the hobby. countrytravler
I would be proud to drive that fantasy. 99% of the people wouldn't know that 1960 Desoto drop top was not produced. Including me until know. Might have been a prototype. Like a 409 in a Corvette. Had 2 of them in our driveway back in the 60s. But they didn't produce them at the factory. Would be interesting to talk to the people that built this car.
