jwilli43
Hello All,Simple question, are the jewel colors on the later 20s early 30s cars the same as on boats? Does the red go on the left and the green on the right side of the headlights? Thanks.JW
studeq
If it is like boats the red is on the left (port side) and the green on the right (starboard). Why, don't ask, its complicated.

Peter P
I do not have a factual answer but logic dictates that the coloured jewels on headlights and cowl lamps would have followed marine and later, airplane traditions. Aircraft navigation lights work the same as marine navigation lights... Red on the Port (Left side), Green on the Starboard side (Right side). I have a mid twenties Studebaker cowl lamp in front of me with a green jewel. It will go on the passenger side of the car. The housing is slanted for the curve on that side of the vehicle. I think the answer to your question is yes, the jewel colors on the later 20s early 30s cars are on the same sides as on boats.
