I was told previously on here that using someone else's title was against the law and they will confiscate the car and charge you with fraud, is this not true ? Wayne

Perfectly legal to buy or sell titles. Using them fraudulently is where the crime occurs. Same with VIN plates. It's not illegal to remove them but it is illegal to use them, well, illegally.

So you are indeed saying it can not be used on another car or for registration of another car under any circumstances, correct ?

I don't think the OP said anything about needing the title to transfer a car but yes, I would assume it is illegal to use a title to make a car "legal". It is certainly done often enough.

And the primary reason it's done is state gov'mint makes it so cumbersome and expensive to obtain a title for an old car where the title or crucial info has just disappeared into the dark of time.

I am in Canada and I purchased a large property that had 3 cars in the building. None have titles and I have not been able to find a way to register them legally and I dont want to lose my cars or my freedom.
