SOLD 12/16/14

This 1940 Packard 180 1807 Formal Sedan was sold new by the Detroit Branch of the Packard Motor Company. This vehicle was restored about 30 years ago and recently refreshened inside and out. Today, this Packard runs, drives and looks great and was invited to the 2012 St. John' Concours where it was proudly displayed. Recently, the 160 HP/ 356 cid engine and transmission were completely rebuilt. The car starts effortlessly, idles smoothly and goes down the road with the power and speed of a well sorted, senior series Packard. The brakes are excellent, the suspension is tight and the steering is precise and accurate. It has many options and accessories including an original Packard radio with it's original under the running board antenna and rear mounted speaker, a divider window, front and rear heaters, dual side mounts with metal covers, bumper guards, rear luggage rack, and the extremely desirable overdrive which allows this car to cruise at contemporary speeds. The black paint is excellent and shows virtually no signs of wear. The gloss is even throughout and there is no evidence of underlying problems. The chrome and stainless are like new and have evidently been professionally restored. The body is rock solid with all four doors having proper alignment. They shut with ease and have that wonderful, solid sound when they close. The hood alignment is spot on. The overall fit and finish is extremely impressive and clearly show that this car was always a good car and properly restored. Underneath, the body is just as straight and the fenders show no signs of damage or repair. The interior is absolutely beautiful. It has been expertly restored and today remains in like new condition including the seats, door panels, bulk head, headliner, etc. The rear section has a working divider window, clock, a single occasional seat, a bulkhead storage area, floor mounted heater, radio speaker, dome lights and vanities. The top fits the vehicle tight with no wrinkles, creases or waves. With its 138" wheelbase, this is a large and impressive car. It truly typifies the understated elegance that its designers were trying to achieve. This vehicle is certainly ready to be shown at any major concours, and would be equally suited as a comfortable, long distance tour car. Car number 1332-2213 and Engine number CC506844F. The price is an extremely reasonable xxxxxx and the car is located in Ann Arbor, Michigan. Please call 734-730-4274 or email:motoringicons@hotmail.com to schedule a viewing or for more information. I have over 120 detail photos I can email and certainly welcome you to come and take a test drive. Thank you.
