pint4
My engine and transmission from my 37 Packard 120 are close to being ready for paint. I have a few questions. What is the correct color and is there a paint code? What is the best paint to use? Looking for something that can withstand heat and won't flake off in a couple of years. Any suggestions? I would like it to look good years down the road and I know engines get hot. Thanks,BobEmail: pint4@new.rr.com
Guest bkazmer
Hirsch has the right high temperature green enamel for the engine
Dave Mitchell
We match the engine green and custom mix Dupont Imron for the engine paint. It holds up to heat as well as oil and gas. Any of the top line paints will do a good job - Sikkens, Dupont, PPG, etc.
pint4
Thank you for the feedback. I am trying to do things right so I don't have to disassemble the car again in two or 3 years because I used the wrong paint and it starts to peel or discolor due to heat. I plan to drive the car and put some miles on it. I am sure I will get some things wrong but hopefully I can minimize them. I appreciate the input from those that have traveled this road. The sharing of your knowledge and suggestions is very much appreciated.
