HistoryBuff
I am amazed reading this article that it was fiberglass--I thought the Corvette was enough fiberglass problems in '54, but curious to hear inside-baseball story of how Roy (J.C. Whitney) Warshasky beat out Bortz to buying it and how much he paid? Bearing in mind GM even then supposedly did not sell show cars. And was it really a dummy drive train that hundreds of thousands had to be spent to make a working drive train? I gather it still can't be road driven.I personally think the car already by the mid--50s was politically incorrect, the sense of democracy was such that Americans no longer wanted to see chauffeur driven cars.Oh we have chauffeur driven cars (I've even been an informal chauffeur for executives) but they are so much more obvious in the town car. Thanks for any old stories and opinions on whether a chauffeur driven town car would find an audience today
