1956 brake pedal removal?

Working on a 1956 Special with power brakes. I know it's a one-year-only setup. How do I remove the brake pedal from the floor of the car so I can get access to the access plate bolts underneath the steering column floor cover? The shop manual is of no help. The horizontal pin turns but does not come out. Can't really hammer it out due to the steering column being in the way. I know everything has to come out through the interior of the car, but the brake pedal has to be removed first, to access the bolts on the access plate. Stumped.

Hi Pete, once you take the nut off the pin will come out. You can use a adjustable wrench on the end with the flats to give it a wiggle while applying a bit of leverage to the other end and it should come out quite easily. The brake pedal has nylon bushes.

Also note that the pin is actually eccentric and is used to adjust the brake pedal and this is explained in the shop manual.
