ken1007
How does the steering wheel come off. There is a puller for post war Studebaker steering wheels, but it can not attach to this wheel; so there must be some other "puller" that I have never heard of or seen. drdon
I assume you have already removed the horn button and the nut that holds the wheel onto the steering shaft (as well as having disconnected your battery to not have a problem with the horn wire). I removed mine by first lubing up the shaft with PB blaster, leaving it (in my case a day or so) and then just tapped on the back side near the steering column with a rubber hammer. It finally came loose. I will be interested to see other advice which, I am sure, will be more reasonable than mine. (I could never get a puller to work and have three that I tried). rbk
If you take the horn button out and remove the nut , you can put a bolt n the hole preferably with a copper washer and sit in the front seat with your knees under the steering wheel pushing up and give that bolt a good rap.The bolt head will protect the threads on the steering shaft.Robert kapteyn Edited November 20, 2014 by rbk (see edit history)
studeboy
I used a bearing puller collar below the wheel, a bolt in the hole as Robert said and a regular 3 jaw puller on the bearing puller collar on my 1940. Slipped right off.
