Need help with a nut, no not that kind.

Trying to remove the front end lever shocks. One of the nuts (both sides) is hidden in a hole where the cross member meets the frame. How the heck are you suppose to hold that nut? I've used every wrench I have and can't capture the nut to screw the bolt off. These are the foward most mounting bolts on the shocks. Thanks

I just checked on my '38( cold out in the garage!) These nuts may have been welded on the inside of the frame before the cross member was attached. I see this a lot on

Thanks Mr. Butcher. I would have thought that was the way it should be, but it wasn't. There was a nut and lock washer inside the hole on both sides. I tried everything I could think of to get on that nut but nothing worked. So out come the cutoff wheel (wizz wheel) and I cut the head off the bolt. Then I found out why nothing would get on that nut. The nut was covered with under coating. I got the darn shocks off and I guess that's the important thing. I'll be moving on to the front buggy spring and steering stuff next. Stay tuned as I bet this part will be interesting.
