Dome light now works in my Zephyr

Guys, another thing fixed. This time it's the dome light. The switch on the pillar probably hadn't been used in 50 years. I simply pulled it apart and after a through and through cleaning, it's back working again, what a great feeling!

Anyone know the correct bulb number?

Don't know the number on the light offhand, but I always wondered why they only put the button switches on the back doors. You can get them in halogen now. For example, Bill Hirsch at hirschbill@aol.com, 800-828-2061.

Thanks for the info on the bulbs but I can't do the halogen as I'm trying to be as original as possible.

John, the correct bulb for your dome light is GE 81. This should brighten your day.

I think Dennis Carpenter makes repros of the switch.

Funny as it may sound, I think one could find one at your local hardware store. It's just a simple sliding on-off switch.

I thought it was a button and not a switch. Maybe that's another year.

I'll have to see what Dennis carpenter has.

I have removed every switch from my '48 LC that I'am working on and after wire brushing, cleaning the contacts; got them all except one door floor lamp switch to work . Even the headlamp, hearter, defroster,and ignition switch. This car sat outside for a few years. These switches were well made with good materials.

Yes, I think they were and what satisfaction!!

I say, don't replace FIX!!
