What car would this be?

Looks a little like a Dupont with the painted radiator shell, but I am guessing about a 1922 or so Marmon.....I see a diamond quarter window, too. The running boards are turned up at both ends like the Marmon.

Looks like Barney Oldfield in the Model 34 Indy pace car that paced the race in 1920. It was said that Barney probably was in control of the fastest car on the track that day. I think Barney ended up owning that car, and drove it all across the U.S.[/quote

The radiator, hood, lights and fenders look like Peerless 1917 to 1919. Peerless made a sport roadster that looks just like this. I would post a picture if I knew how.

All,

Just to add more confusion to this thread, it appears that movie producer Hal Roach was a fast car buff in that ancient time. There exists a picture of Hal Roach, Charlie, Chaplin, and several other "swells" (period term for well-off, fast paced young persons) on Flicker in a 1922 Kissel Gold Bug. I cant figure out how to download it.

Thanks, Ron Hausmann P.E.
