RansomEli
I didn't want to hijack the Gemmer steering box thread, so I'll start a new one.I need to rebuild the steering box on my '29 135 sedan. I'm not an expert, but in reading the AACA and Franklin Club info, it looks like the Gemmer fits 1930 and later, not my '29. I couldn't find any 1929 rebuild info on the HHFC website. Can anyone recommend a good resource for rebuilding '29 steering boxes? Thanks.
odat
THAT SHOULD BE A ROSS BOX. GTHOSE ARE GOOD BOXES AND CAN BE ADJUSTED BY REMOVING SHIMS. THEY ARE A SIMPLE BOX.

odyssey
The 1929 135/137 box is the last of the genuine Franklin boxes. They are beautifully made and extremely durable. A major rebuild generally requires only new bushings and bearings (if needed). Sometimes the sector shaft wears badly enough to require grinding, but I think it is rare in the Franklin boxes. Adjust as per operators manual. Tom
dan at larescorp
We could rebuild your steering gear. Once we're done with it you'll have a limited lifetime warranty on it for as long as you own the vehicle. PM me for details.
RansomEli
Thanks, Dan. I've seen your postings on the AACA forum, and people seem to like your products. I'm going to try to adjust and see where it goes from there.
