37_Roadmaster_C Posted October 27, 2014 Share Posted October 27, 2014 I can't swear to it, but I am fairly sure the small Buick, series 40 Special used a smaller brake drum than the big car, series 60 Century, 80 Roadmaster or 90 Limited. Leif Holmberg Posted October 27, 2014 Share Posted October 27, 2014 Looking to this part books scan,there are no loose hub:s on 1936-80 and even other models around this year.The "new"type of inner rear axle with the hub casted together with the rear axle seems to start at this time.My guess?Leif in Sweden. Guest cccapt42 Posted October 27, 2014 Share Posted October 27, 2014 The 40 series rear brake drums are steel backed with cast iron lining surfaces, lining width is 1 3/4". 60/80 series are all cast iron with ribs on the outside and have a lining surface of 2". So no cigar. It might be easier to search correct brake drum by it's casting number. Spare part numbers were painted on drum and those are long gone with most of cases.
