Wagner starter

In cleaning the Wagner starter of many years of black paint, it looks like the first layer is a dark green. Does anyone know the original color of the starters? thanks, Earl

Part 2--I just finished cleaning the starter and the more I cleaned the more green paint I found. Hopefully someone knows for sure if they came green. I'll hold off painting it any color for a few days and maybe someone will have the answer.

I guess someone had a can of green paint and figured it didn't matter. Right now, the generator is black, but who knows when I get down to cleaning it what I'll find underneath the top layer of paint. There's no telling how many layers of paint the starter had. You could hardly read the name 'Wagner' on it.

Now, is the paint glossy, flat or semi-gloss for the starter and generator?

The horn had a great deal of the original paint and I could tell it was glossy. Horn is Northeast. Please tell me that's the correct horn..... Thanks for all the help.... Get ready, I'm sure more questions will be forthcoming as I work on the car.
