electrical question

I have a late 1930's car, 6 volt positive ground. When I have the negative battery terminal connected to the battery first (goes to the starter) and then connect the positive cable to the battery second (ground) the ground connection sparks a little while I'm connecting it. I don't remember it doing this in the past. I haven't driven this car in 2 years. Do I have an electrical short somewhere or is something drawing current?

This indicates a power draw somewhere in the car. It could be as simple as, you left the key on. Or left the door open and the dome light was on.

If you wish to track it down you can connect a test light between the battery and cable, then pull fuses and disconnect or twiddle with things until it goes out.
