oil pump

I'm needing a good oil pump for a 1950 217.8 mine is weak. Where on the oil pump is the relief valve. I've not got it off yet, has someone got a diagram of the oil pump. Thanks

Hay Ajj, Is the engine a flathead six? than get your parts at Andy bernbaum , easy job renewing the oil pump.

behind the big bolt in the center of the picture there you will find the pressure relief valve ..... (and a spring) better to renew the spring

i am for sure the valve will be tight into the channel so be carefull to get it out it has to slide out easely

You might try just stretching the spring a little to see it that makes a difference. If the pump is putting out enough pressure you should see a difference.

First check if the valve can pulled out. . And be carefull with stretching springs. Better buy a new one. But if it don t improve the pressure than go get another oilpump . Did you check your oil pressure gauge?

That's one of the first things I did. I can start it up and pull the drip stick out an the oil is way up on the stick then turn it off an let it sat for a while an it will read full so the oil pump is pumping good so I think its the spring I hope it is, the oil pump for it is close to 200.oo but I may have to bite the bullet.

Well I stretched the spring an it did not help at all so new oil pump. does anyone know what models will interchange Thanks again for the help.

I found a new one on ebay...........
