Jerry Alexander
Does anyone have a Presto-Lite Generator that would fit a 1915 Model 22 Metz? If not do you know where there might be one for sale, other than E-Bay?
MochetVelo
I don't think Prest-O-Lite made gas generators. The sold/rented acetylene tanks. You can find them at auto flea markets with new labels from Restoration Supply in CA. A good idea is to use this tank (or a generator) for "show" and hide a small ("MC"-size) tank in the car to run the lights. This month's issue of "Horseless Carriage Gazette" has plans for this project.Phil
Jerry Alexander
Thanks. I have looked at the article you have referred to. Now to find a "MC" - size tank. The plumbing is already in the car except for the tubes that connect the copper tubes to the lights. I believe I saw that there are some tips used to connect the lights with the tubing. I need to review the article again and will do so. Have a good one and again thanks.Jerry

Guest cben09
Out dated tanks are NOT to be used/filled,,Newer in date tanks can be filled,,,,tested as routineAceytlene can detonate at not so hi pressure,,Around 1906 they discoverd that if ya put ACETONE inthe tank,,,IN a asbestos wick,,the aceytlene disolves like co2 in gingerale,,,,and the pressure is tolerable at 200#instead of 15#,,,,Cutting the end of a bottle is not a great idea,,,New bottles are standard in the trade,,,,they all have a test date/stamp,If you go with the generator,,be SURE to clean it good at end of tripNOT next morning,,,the lime-ash will set up like cement!!! !! !!,,Yehit will,,been there done that,,,,grrrr,,,,Do not try to fill antique bottleyourself,,,its like fooling w/dynamite,,,really,,,read up on thisCheers,,,Ben whaddid i forget?? MochetVelo
Here's an interesting thread on "MC" acetylene tanks, the same type as the Prest-O-Lite. "MC" stands for motorcycle, but these tanks are still in use by welders and plumbers, including the ones with the offset valve.Phil
