I have these very heavy, solid brass hubcaps, with an "R" in the center.

They come with Right and Left threads, two of each.

They come in good to poor condition.

WHAT ARE THEY ?

Are they RUXTON ?

I wonder what the difference is ?

My ROOSEVELT hub caps are very heavy solid brass castings. The ones on e-bay, seem to be aluminum. Also, mine, have the "R" plates, attached with two pins, rather than embossed into the cap, itself.

Mine would have to have L/H and R/H threads, as the inertia of those heavy caps, would soon unscrew from the left side in hard braking. Maybe mine are early and they had to change to a lighter hubcap.

These just might be a good addition to the brass scrap pile.

Yours are probably for wire wheels like "Buffalo" or "Houk" type. The aluminum items are for a wood spoke wheel.

Definitely not Buffalo or Houk. I believe Marmon used Hayes wheels on these cars. Might also fit a Marmon from the same time. I have a spare Rh. but it looks like your worst one is Lh. Wire wheel stuff is quite desireable. Definitely not for the brass bin.

I looked, but could not find mine. I did not spend hours.

I couldn't find if you could sort by alphabetical order.

Now to get a photo of the backside for "TexRiv_63".

Thank you,

It looks, as if, someone tried to remove my roughest one with a big chisle and an even bigger hammer.

Thank you,

Thank you.

MARMON did make the ROOSEVELT car, so I believe that these are Dayton wheels hub caps for the ROOSEVELT.

How many ROOSEVELTS are out there with wire wheels ?

Thank you,

mikeburch

Hi, mikeburch

Do you still have these Roosevelt hub caps? I have a 1930 Miller Sprint Car with Roosevelt Axles. I'd be interested in your hub caps as spares, if you would be willing to part with them. Thanks for your consideration.

I'd like to see the axles and overall phots of your race car. Bob

I still have one as well. Not sure if it's a right or left.  If you are interested I will dig it out and post some photo's. Reasonable condition , but some scrapes and one gouge.

I have front and rear axles, with hubs and caps like this, that I bought about ten years ago for a speedster project. It's my understanding, they are Dayton, and came from a 1929 Roosevelt. I'm not going to use them. I paid $400. Would like to break even. In Riverside, Ca.
