Traveler On the Backroads

post-78906-143142746188_thumb.jpg

time has forgotten me

time has moved on down the road

to newer models sleeker lines

brighter colors with computer components

but i had my time

yes i was in the spotlight once

i glimmered i shined

there was a time

when i cruised main street

when i went to the drive-in movies

when i sat under the moonlight

on lover's lane

before time left her mark

before the dents the scrapes

the rust set in

before ...

now i just sit here

the sun beating down

the rain pelting me

one day dragging

into the next

newer models

zooming by on

the highway

every so often

when the weather's just right

not too hot not too cold

someone will spot me

and pull off the road

look me over and say

admiringly

she sure was

somethin' in her day

yessir she sure was

somethin' alright
