Guest Juergen
Hallo,as I told, I was looking for a new timing gear for my 1933 Serie 66S, I got a NOS part from hagens autoparts. There is a one mark (0) on a tooth. We are not sure how to fit the gear, how must be the position of the crankshaft gear, the timing gear and the gear for dynamo/ waterpump and distributor.I am afraid we dont find the right valve timing. Please I am looking for help and a explanation how to do this, I will beware any mistake. Please excuse my bad english.Regards from germanyJuergen
Mark Shaw
Juergen, Each gear mounts on a keyed shaft that must be rotated until all timing gears are aligned with the timing mark next to the timing mark on their mating gears.
Bob Engle
The generator gear is not critical as you can set the distributor timing after the engine is completely assembled. Cam and crankshaft is critical. The marks on the gears must line up, at the the tooth mesh point.Bob Engle
Bob Engle
I just checked in my junk pile. The gear on the crankshaft has a line stamped on one tooth. This tooth must line up with your cam gear pointing at the 0 on the fiber gear. Once the engine is assembled, set the #1 cylinder at top dead center with both valves closed on #1 cylinder. Install the distributor so the rotor points to #1 plug wire in the distributor cap.Bob Engle
