Hi Everyone.

I have a 1946 Buick Super Sedanette 56S. I want to replace the j-nuts and associated screws/bolts which hold the fender inner splashguards on. I know I can buy the j-nuts from Bob's Automobilia but where can I get the screws/bolts from to fit the j-nuts. Your help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance.

Dean.

Dean,

Some years back, I restored a '48 Buick Super convertible and I'm very familiar with the fasteners you have pictured. The original Buick bolts like the the one you have shown have ACME threads. The thread profile is square as opposed to triangular as on most standard screws. I don't know of any source for exact replacements. Most of mine were in good condition and I was able to bead blast them and have them replated. Fortunately, there are standard sheet metal screws (with triangular threads) that will perfectly interchange with the original ACME thread bolts. You will find that Buick used the ACME thread bolts in many locations on the front sheet metal in these cars. Hope this helps.
