Replacement wheel bearings?

Hello everyone, I was wondering if anyone would know of a replacement bearing for wheel axle hubs for a 1917 Dodge Touring Car. As we all know, Timkin, part # 288 cone, 284 cup for rear hub are not available anymore. My rear bearings are no good and need replacing, any Ideas or suggestions? Thanks!! If anyone is interested here is a chart I made for needed bearings for an early Dodge, full floating axle.

You need to find a progressive size listing from someone or on line.

Naturally you will need to know all the dimensions including the overall length of the assembled bearing although on a spindle there is a little leeway.

You might find the dimensions on line as well for the part numbers above.

I have access to an a very old progressive list.

I'll email a reminder to myself to see what I can come up with....... :)

I checked the 1960 Timken progressive size book and came up with nothing...... :(

If you can get accurate dimensions of the cup OD, cone ID and the overall length (thickness) of the bearing in it's assembled position it should be pretty easy to find a suitable replacement for you....... :)

Thanks for the replies.

The problem I have is that the rear wheel bearing tighten bolt has been tighten so mush that the edge of the drum has cut though part of the oil tube behind the wheel. I'm afraid the bearings are so worn out I won't get an accurate measurement of the cone or bearing. Has anyone ever thought of having the hubs machined to fit a more available bearing? Just a thought???

Broke down and got all four bearings at Myers. Now I need to find is a, rear wheel bearing grease retainer, J 2821 or J 2823. One has a curved outer edge the other has a straight edge. I have one of each I guess I could them. They are replacements for each other.

Hi everyone. I received all four new bearing for my rear hub from Meyers. They seen to be pretty close to the originals by narrower. Has anyone tried using these bearing? If anyone has, how did they work? I'm concerned because when you adjust the wheel bearing nut it will draw the drum against the back plate. This in turn will move the drum open edge back toward the axles oil tube and brake assembly. The reason I'm replacing the bearings in the first place is because the wheel bearing adjustment nut had been tightened so much that the drums edge had actually cut the oil tube in half.

Any help will be appreciated.
