Locked spare wheels

On my 1934 Dodge DR the two spare wheels in the fenders are locked by the lockable hubcabs.

My problem is that I can't unlock them.

I have 2 sets of original keys. One key goes to the door. (The ignition lock is not original.)

My question is: is it the same key as the door that should unlock the hubcabs or the other key? Should it turn clockwise or anti clockwise? I need to know before aplying force.

If you are able to get a copy of your Build Record from Chrysler Historical, you may be able to find out the key number for the spare locks if the car originally had them and they are still the same ones.

A good (and old) locksmith may have the key cut records for that key number so may be able to make keys for the spare's hubcap locks.

Just a thought.

Oh... The hubcap lock is probably different than the ignition or door keys.

if you have the lockable hub cap try that key......

Thank you. I just got the hubcabs off today. After applying some force it turned out they weren't locked.

Interesting, I just tried my door key in the hubcap lock and they don't work and I know one of the locks at least is original.

hmm ...something else to look at !

it uses bent key I know that much, have mine in front of me and a blank bent key fits it but will not turn it,,,,Ian have you tried your ignition key??
