1947 Hudson - Not Idling

I cannot seem to get my 1947 Hudson to idle properly. All cylinders are sparking, compression is a bit low at around 60 psi on each cylinder. However, my 1949 Hudson idles just fine even though the engine compression is around 70 psi. I cannot seem to figure out what the problem might be. Any suggestions???

I don't have any bright ideas, but if you don't get any good answers in a few days, you might try posting this over at the Hudson club's "Open Forum", at http://forum.hetclub.org/ .

This happens both when the engine is warm, or cold?

Is the automatic choke opening and closing correctly?

The engine otherwise runs smoothly when you're driving down the road?

Would I assume correctly that you have fussed with the idle adjustment screws?

By the way, is this the 8 or the 6 cylinder engine? I think they have different carbs, don't they? (This might offer an indication to someone more knowledgeable than I!)
