post-102828-143142704889_thumb.jpgI have recently finished pase one of getting my dad's old Roadmaster back on the road again after 31 years in storage. My dad purchased the car from the original owner's children in appx 1980. The car had been sitting in the family barn for 20 years when my brother arrived to get it running again so they could bring it home. All in all the car has sat for 51 years of its' 65 year life!

the car is named after my mother who used to drive it to work occasionally in the summertime and who passed away in 2012. I've had my dad's Navy tattoo of mom redrawn and applied in vinyl to the glass as a bit of a tribute and I was able to take dad for a cruise for the first time in 31 years which was priceless for both of us.

Other than some drivers side floor, there is very little rust given the age and the 320 engine still cruises right along on the freeway without fail. The Dynaflow has the typical small leak and the master cylinder has been rebuilt but should be resleeved. I'm not building a 400 point car so body/paint is fine for now warts and all. I would like to get the front seat recovered, recarpet it and to detail out the engine bay with correct colors and labels but other than that she will likely stay as is and get driven A LOT!

Hope you enjoy my 'Marilyn' I know I love her!
