Guest frank123
Good morning to all, I'm new to this forum.Last weekend I was at a friend cottage house and saw this old rusting engine. All he could remember is that it's apparently from 1929 and the missing parts were stolen years ago.Can someone tell from what car it came from?I have tried doing some reaserch on the magneto and distributor name plates and did not find anything usefull. I Google some pictures of engines from that time and my feeling is that it could be older than that but it's worth what it's worth.Thanksfrank123
Vila
It looks a lot older than 1929 to me.The fact that the United Motor Company did not purchase both the Delco and Remy companies to form Delco Remy in approximately 1916 and this car has a REMY distributor which was the designation until after approximately 1925 when the tags changed to Delco Remy. Also, it appears to have a cone clutch which were only thru the early 1920s. I don't believe it is a Chevrolet engine, but do a Google search of "1916 Chevrolet engine" and it looks "similar" to the 4 cylinder engines shown so it appears to be closer to that vintage.Visit my personal website at: www.jakegingervila.wix.com/bobs-vintage-cars-Vila1933 Chevrolet1962 Triumph TR41984 BMW 633 CSi Edited September 1, 2014 by Vila (see edit history)
oldford
Looks like a 1919 Chevrolet engine. The Model FA used that distributor...Frank
