Keep 'm Rolling Buick

In September 1944 the southern part of The Netherlands was liberated by the Allied. So this year marks the 70th liberation year. In the area I live in there will be quite some celebrations, exhibitions etc in the next 2 months (OP Market Garden).

A town 3 miles from had the celebration this weekend. Was surprised to find a Buick between all the GMC's, GP's, Willy's, Dodges and HD's:

Go BUICK!!! and Many THANKS to all the Veterans, no matter the era of service.

Neat picture of a great car.

Nice looking car but I'm going on record as stating it's a tribute car. If it were an actual staff car, it would not have bright trim on the headlight rings, hub caps, mirrors, or side trim. It has the black-out tail lights but no black-out forward looking light.

I see JohnD1956's comments on the wheels - too wide? wrong offset? wrong diameter?

I'm not an expert but the rims look to be new manufacture, and very wide. Maybe 6 1/2" wide to accommodate the radials??

Either that or they've been "reversed." Either way, definitely not OE '39 wheels. I know that the 6" wide stock rims on my '63 Riviera do not have that big of an offset to them.

Agreed, definitely not the stock rims. But I think they look nice on there.

This one must have been a General's car. Did you notice that his putter is available anytime he stops to inspect the troops. Probably used it instead of a swagger stick. This car gets more fun every time you look at it.

I did not notice that till you mentioned it. What a great detail...

Next time I spot the car I will try to get in contact with the owner to get some more information.

Does the speedometer indicate that this is not a genuine army vehicle. It appears to be in KLH, not MPH, indicating it was probably an export car to begin with?

I know the inside mounted fire extinguisher is period correct, but was originally filled with carbon tetrachloride, not a very nice chemical as far is breathing is concerned. So, I hope that it is empty and for display only.
