papafarms
Hi everyone, hope all are doing well! I have a question, the inside of the bumper, is it correct to paint the inside after chroming has been done, if so, do you use flat black, or a galvanized looking type of color or something else, what is accepted, as usual all the questions I have posed to all have always had good reponses, I have a 1940 Coupe convertible, thanks for the help, Bob
Guest outlaw car man
Geez, Bob, nobody chimed in on this. This may help. All the 30s cars I've owned, did not have the inside painted, it was left chromed. My 1933 Buick 90s, the same, BUT had rock guards mounted, attached to the inside of the bumper, painted gloss black. I think, I would leave it " natural" chrome. Fords, Pontiacs, Essex etc. all had no paint.
HarryLime
We painted them gloss silver or gloss silver grey after plating. A uniform finish, not too flashy, easy to do and easy to maintain.
Bob Engle
32 Buicks had the back of the bumpers painted gloss black along with the mounting brackets. Bob Engle
