What year did Buick start using rod & main bearing inserts.

I would like to find a car that I can run safely for hours without fear of rod failure at 70-75mph

Mark, nothing wrong with your babbitt bearings. Inserts are just easier to install. No shimming. I owned a '40 when I was 16 and DID not concern myself. And drove as fast as it would run when I could get away with it.
