Metz Muffler Help

Hi all

I have the cast muffler ends and when removing the other day Im puzzled

the muffler ends seem to have large holes (say 3/4") in them for the holding together rods

the outlet end has like an exhaust cutout flap on end with lever to operate.

The question is with the flap closed until opened, how does the exhaust gases exit

and what should be the overall length of the muffler, I guess to the opposite chassis rail

so it is able to be supported

Thank you for any guidance

The tube that connects to the end caps has lots of holes drilled in it. The two rods that hold the end caps together are hollow and have slots cut in them. With the cutout closed, the exhaust enters in one side, escapes through the holes in the main tube, moves around inside the cylinder and eventually makes its way through the slots in the two rods and exits. I'll add a picture or two later today.

Hi Jeff

Thank you for taking the trouble to pull your muffler apart

this answers a few questions that puzzled me, especially the larger holes in the end caps

There will possibly be more questions to make sure its right

once again thanks very much, greatly appreciated

Regards Dave
