AzBob
Having a new fuel tank fabricated due to leakage and extensive corrosion of the original tank. The original "brass" fuel line appears to be sound and still has the original black paint. However, hard to tell what it is like internally. My options are a. leave it alone. b. attempt to clean it internal via air/solvent. c. replace. If I replace, what type of fuel line material is recommended? The original "brass" looking type tubing does not appear to be available. The car was running prior to tank removal. Thanks,Bob
Pete Phillips
I would clean it out with air and then use it as is. If it was running before and not leaking and not starved for fuel, why replace it?Pete Phillips, BCA #7338
Leif Holmberg
If replaceing the fuel line, use copper, easy to bend and you can use the old brass parts on the copper line again. But as Pete say,why change if the brass fuel line is okey.Leif in Sweden. AzBob
Thanks for the replies and advice, Pete and Leif. What a great way to network on restoring and maintaining our prewar Buicks!I set up a means to reverse blow compressed air and acetone backwards through the fuel line. Lots of black and particles at first. To my astonishment, it began to clean up after several blows.Bob
Mark Shaw
Acetone and air would be my method too... Good job!
