Guest clamshells
I pulled a posi out of a 64 making sure the pinion flange was correct for my 65 and thought all was fine until it came time for the brake drums. Okay no problem on the drums I used the repro drums that came with the unit (I wanted the Buick from the one legger I removed but oh well) once again on my way until OH SNAP my 65 wheels don't fit due to the centering ring vs the large hub on 64? rear end.Are the axles interchangeable between these two years and between a posi and a open? RivNut
Lots of people, including me, have chiseled the retaining rings out of the wheels and driven them many a mile that way. Lots simpler than swapping axles, but swapping axles would probably be the best way to go. I'm not saying that they are interchangeable 'cause I don't know. Guest clamshells
Running a set of wheels without the retaining ring seems fine.
