bob duffer
I took off my rear tire to redo the bumper , when i put it back on it rubs on the painted part behind the chrome bumper , it will not open all the way when i release the tire. The painted bumper stops it and if i let it go it will put a crease in the tire ring cover. Anyone have any ideas on what could be wrong?
bob duffer
The second picture is in the closed position and the first picture i am holding tire so it won't crease the tire cover ring. It won't extend out.
1957Birdman
Hi Bob,Assuming that all the parts of the bumper are as they came from the factory, it sounds like you have an adjustment problem. This seems to be one of the more difficult things to get right on any early T-Bird. There are over a half dozen articles in the Early Bird over the years on how to do it. What is the size of the tire you have in the carrier? If it is wider aspect tire than a 6.70-15 bias ply tire then that could cause a problem. I will try to scan one of the articles and send it to you privately.Regards,Lew
